...on the house thing. I am going to spend the next six months aggressively saving and paying off my debt. When A's lease is up, we will look for a place together. And it looks like the house market is starting to come down here so waiting will be a good thing.

Yay! I'm so happy to hear this :) Both parts - that you're still going to do it, but that you're also going to wait a bit and save and pay off your debt.
Who knows? With the way things are these days, you may find something even better than what you thought you could initially afford.
